Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Just Won Every Award It Was Nominated For At The Golden Joystick Awards

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 just won Ultimate Game of the Year at the Golden Joystick Awards – and a bunch of other awards too. In fact, it won in every single category that it was nominated for, knocking its competition out of the water.
As well as Ultimate Game of the Year, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 also won Best Storytelling, Best Visual Design, Studio of the Year (Sandfall), Best Supporting Performer (Ben Starr), and Best Lead Performer (Jennifer English).
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Is Off To A Legendary Start At The Golden Joystick Awards
Expedition 33 fended off second-place runner-up Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 to win Ultimate Game of the Year.
The acceptance speech for the final award summed it up nicely: “What the f**k is happening right now”. Truly, it has been a wild night for all of the developers and cast, as they were brought on stage again and again to accept their awards. It also meant that fan favourite actors Ben Starr and Jennifer English took home the awards for Best Supporting Performer and Best Lead Performer, respectively.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was expected to win big this award season, but this is even more success than many of us could have predicted. It means that the beloved RPG managed to stay in the minds of voters all year long, having launched earlier in 2025, and also fended off long-awaited sequels, such as Hades 2 and Silksong.
In a shocking turn of events, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 left empty-handed, despite getting a ton of nominations. The problem was that it was often nominated in the same category as Expedition 33. When it wasn’t, it lost out to Silksong for Best PC Game and GTA 6 for Best Trailer.
The big question is whether Expedition 33 can repeat this at The Game Awards. It’s already off to a good start, having scooped up more nominations than any other game in the award’s history, but actually winning them is another matter. Still, I’m sure many of us are putting our money on it taking home the big GOTY award next month.
