Corey Seager’s Top Landing Spots with Braves Reportedly 1 of 8 Teams on No-Trade List

When Corey Seager was a free agent after the 2021 season, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported that the Toronto Blue Jays were “very much” in the mix before the star shortstop wound up signing with Texas.
That was a very different time for the Blue Jays because they weren’t yet the high-payroll juggernaut that they have become, resulting in the franchise’s first World Series appearance in 32 years this season.
Now, the Blue Jays find themselves in a position where they need to figure out what they are going to do at shortstop. Bo Bichette is a free agent at the age of 27 and coming off a strong season.
Even though the potential of Toronto retaining a homegrown talent like Bichette would make for a nice story, Seager is arguably a better all-around player right now.
The one drawback is Seager is four years older than Bichette, so the Blue Jays would be sacrificing some of their long-term future. But they were so close to a title this season and figure to be among the best teams in the AL again next season that they can afford to have some tunnel vision if the opportunity to acquire Seager were to present itself.
