It’s safe to say Kev Townsend is full of secrets on Emmerdale, with residents left stunned in the latest episode of the ITV soap.
The character’s link to another villager was finally confirmed on Thursday, as well as a link to a past villain. Two characters put two and two together and worked out Kev was the biological father of Lewis Barton.
Kev didn’t seem to make the realisation himself, not knowing about Lewis’ backstory. But it was a second secret he was keeping that was soon uncovered, and one resident in particular was utterly shocked.
As Thursday’s episode unfolded, Liam Cavanagh found himself caught up in Kev’s scheming. Kev robbed a shop and used Liam as his getaway driver, leaving the doctor horrified.
Kev had a gun, and left the shop with a load of cash, jewellery and even a sword. It wasn’t long before news of the robbery reached the village, and Aaron Dingle immediately suspected Kev was to blame.

As Aaron confronted his secret partner Robert Sugden, Kev’s husband, he tried to make him see what Kev had done. Robert laughed this off, saying Kev was not a liar (if only he knew).
Meanwhile, Liam was in the pub with Kev when Nicola King came in, and both Liam and Nicola soon made a startling realisation. As Kev opened up about his long-lost child that he’d never met, some comments about them left Nicola and Liam realising the truth.
Kev confessed he got someone named Emma, a trainee nurse, pregnant 23 years ago. He then commented how their child was adopted, and Emma was the one who got Kev sent to prison.
When Kev dropped the admission that Emma had died after being pushed off a bridge, it didn’t take long for the pair to work out it was Emma Barton, Lewis’ late mother. With that, the pair knew Lewis had to be Kev’s secret son, with Nicola vowing he would never find out.
Meanwhile, Kev returned to Charles and Claudette’s home where he’d been staying, and he asked Robert to see him. He’d promised Robert and his sister Victoria Sugden some money for something, and claimed he now had it.

Aaron’s words rang in Robert’s ears though, and he quickly questioned where Kev’s money had come from. Finding the bag from the robbery, he located the cash and the jewellery and confronted him.
Kev confessed to the theft, before dropping another huge bombshell on Robert, having lied to him for years. Kev was forced to reveal he wasn’t rich, having made Robert think for years that he had loads of money stashed away, a fortune he would leave to him when he died.
Not only is Kev not dying, with Robert yet to find this out, but he’s actually broke. Kev confessed he thought he had money but it was taken and spent by others he was involved with, and he was left with nothing.
Robert was stunned by the lie, but also annoyed given he believed he’d be left with a fortune. Soon enough Kev was threatening to harm Aaron, but will he go through with it?
