Brad Lambert was a first-round pick of the Jets back in 2022, but after struggling to catch on in Winnipeg, he’s been given permission to seek a trade.

The Winnipeg Jets have built one of the strongest cores in the NHL on all three levels, and after finishing first in the Western Conference a season ago, this is a team that’s once again chasing the Stanley Cup in 2025/26.

This season, they’ve added some young talent to their lineup as they continue to balance youth and experience, but unfortunately, that hasn’t meant any playing time for 2022 first-round pick Brad Lambert.

The 21-year old centre was the No. 30 overall pick in that 2022 NHL Draft, and after battling some injuries, he has found consistency in the AHL with the Manitoba Moose, posting 90 points across his past 125 games with the team.

However, he’s struggled to capitalize on opportunities in the NHL thus far, tallying just 1 goal and 3 points in 10 games with the Jets over the past three seasons, and now, it doesn’t appear as though they have a role for him in 2025/26.

Now, NHL Insider Frank Seravalli is reporting that the front office have given Lambert permission to go find a trade, as it appears they don’t see a role for him in their NHL squad moving forward after being sent back to the AHL recently.

With his limited NHL opportunities and production, it’s unclear if teams out there will be lining up to land him, but at 21-years of age, he’s still got plenty of time to develop, and if there’s a team with a chance to give him, don’t be surprised to see him moved in the near future.
