Jets forward Brad Lambert given permission to seek trade partner

The Winnipeg Jets have given forward Brad Lambert and his representation permission to speak with other teams about a potential trade, Frank Seravalli reported Thursday afternoon.

Lambert, 21, has appeared in four games with the Jets this season, collecting one goal while averaging 9:02 of ice time per night. The 6’1″ center has also skated in two games with the AHL’s Manitoba Moose, recording no points and six shots on goal.

A first-round pick (No. 30 overall) of the Jets in the 2022 NHL Draft, Lambert has one year remaining after this one on his entry-level contract, which carries an NHL cap hit of $886,666.

Born in Finland to a Canadian father and a Finnish mother, Lambert played in the HIFK, Lahti Pelicans, and JYP Jyväskylä developmental systems in his birth country before coming to North America after being drafted. He was widely regarded as one of the top prospects available for the 2022 NHL Draft before a difficult 2021-22 season caused him to tumble down most lists.

Lambert split his first post-draft season between the Moose and the WHL’s Seattle Thunderbirds, winning a league championship and reaching the Memorial Cup final with the latter. The right-handed pivot returned to the Moose on a full-time basis for the 2023-24 season, recording 21 goals and 55 points in 64 games.

But in his second full pro season in North America, Lambert’s production declined amidst a difficult campaign for the Moose, who finished with just 25 wins in 72 games. In 61 games with the 2024-25 Moose, Lambert recorded 35 points, which put him just two off the team lead of 37 (held by Mason Shaw).

Lambert has appeared in 10 NHL games since making his Jets debut in the 2023-24 season, collecting one goal and three points. He has also racked up 30 goals and 93 points in 141 career AHL games over parts of four seasons with the Moose.
