Eastbourne MP Josh Babarinde proposes in House of Commons

An MP who popped the question in the House of Commons says he and his partner “couldn’t be happier”.

Josh Babarinde, the MP for Eastbourne, proposed to his partner Connor after official business had finished for the day.

The Liberal Democrat, who has represented his home town in East Sussex since July last year, says he planned the surprise proposal after securing permission from the Commons’ Speaker.

Babarinde says he and Connor “will never forget” their engagement day.
