Josh Allen and Hailee Steinfeld maintained a low-profile romance for nearly two years before announcing their engagement. That all shifted when the Buffalo Bills quarterback claimed the NFL’s Most Valuable Player honor.
Allen emerged as the league’s top-rated player, while Steinfeld showcased her versatility across music, cinema, and TV. Her portrayal of Mary in Sinners landed her the Best Supporting Actress Astra Midseason Movie Award. Reports first surfaced in May 2023 linking the couple after they were seen dining together in New York City. By their wedding day, they had been dating for approximately two years.
In the December issue of her Beau Society newsletter, Steinfeld introduced him as her “FIANCE, Mr. Josh Allen,” and shared a brief Q&A offering fans deeper insight into their relationship. She questioned whether Allen — who has emphasized how his marriage to the actress has helped his football career — felt anxious about popping the question, noting he appeared remarkably composed that day. The Bills quarterback confessed to significant nerves and explained his primary worry was Steinfeld uncovering his plans prematurely.
“I was very nervous,” he admitted. “I think I was most nervous about you finding out about the proposal. It was hard to keep secrets from you and have other people in your life keep secrets from you.
“Then multiple times throughout the day, a song would come on, and I would tear up thinking about how special our day was going to be.”
Steinfeld queried Allen about his recollection of the proposal, and he vividly recounted the moment. He shared that he expressed his eagerness to start a family with her, a revelation that startled devout Bills fans during the peak of his football career.
“I said I couldn’t wait any longer. I said I can’t wait to start a family with you. I said your full name, and I asked you very nicely,” he reminisced. “I said please…You were extremely surprised, you said yes, and that was all that mattered to me. And the sun was out.”
The pair went public with their relationship in the summer of 2024 when Allen posted pictures of them on Instagram. They felt secure enough to announce their engagement just four months later.
Since then, Steinfeld has been a regular at Bills games and has openly talked about starting a family. She voiced her wish to have children and described the prospect of starting a family with Allen as thrilling, with the pair tying the knot in May 2025.
Allen has attended movie premieres and was moved to tears watching her perform on the big screen. Buffalo’s offensive leader continues to be one of the NFL’s top players, even though the Bills haven’t replicated last season’s success. They currently hold a 7-3 record and are second in the AFC East behind New England, having won the division since 2020.
Allen has racked up 2,456 passing yards, 18 touchdowns, and seven interceptions this season, boasting a QBR of 62.6. He recently spearheaded Buffalo’s 44-32 triumph over Tampa Bay, completing 17 out of 28 passes for 317 yards and adding 40 rushing yards, as well as scoring three rushing touchdowns.
In the same game, the Bills’ quarterback also launched three touchdown passes, each traveling 25 yards or more in the air.
