Tremors Felt In Kolkata, Northeast After Earthquake In Bangladesh

A 5.7-magnitude earthquake in Bangladesh sent strong tremors across Kolkata and parts of Northeast India on Friday morning.

Tremors were felt across Kolkata and several parts of Northeast India on Friday morning after a 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck Bangladesh.
The quake occurred at 10.08 am (IST), with its epicentre located at latitude 23.77°N and longitude 90.51°E, at a depth of 10 km, according to preliminary seismic data.
Residents in Kolkata and neighbouring regions took to social media moments after the tremors, reporting shaking floors, swinging fans, and swaying light fixtures.
Several users shared videos of chandeliers moving due to the impact.
“Earthquake Kolkata,” wrote one user on X as reports flooded timelines.
There were no reports of any injuries or loss of lives, or damage to property.
