Viewers saw Bobby go on holiday and then vanish, opting to stay abroad – and the sudden exit left them confused – but the lowkey element was just what Jack wanted.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun, he said: “That seems to be the trend in the way that they do exits now, it’s a bit more low key because it gives everybody then a bit more flexibility if you need to rearrange some pieces of the jigsaw in the future, that there’s that bit of flexibility there.

“So yeah, I was kind of grateful that they gave me that opportunity really, and didn’t kind of kill me off or anything like that. So yeah, I think in terms of ways to go, that was ideal for kind of my situation and what I needed at the time.”

But it was a difficult decision for Jack to make after just 18 months on the cobbles.

“It’s such a massive cultural institution so it’s an absolute privilege to work on the show from that perspective,” he said.

“But then from the top down, everyone is so lovely as well because you get to work with really, really lovely people. So I think it’s always kind of tough, weighing up the pros and cons of anything like that is difficult.

“And I think that that’s why it’s nice in a way that I did leave in a bit more of a low key fashion, because then you’ve got the option in the future to return.”

However now that Jack is out of Corrie – he’s been able to put together his new tour.

The BAFTA-winning star who shot to fame aged 14 on Britain’s Got Talent is embarking on a national tour next year.

The Fall Guy will begin in Bradford in February and hit 22 cities before coming to an end in November 2026 in Stockton.

Speaking about his tour, Jack said: “If you’ve seen me do stand-up on telly before then there’s not a radical departure from that stuff.

“I’ll still be talking about disability and that’s the main lens through which I see all the other stuff. But there are other topics discussed.

“I think I was just talking about the fact that the Coronation Street, the writers, when I first joined the show, did a really good job in those early scenes of trying to distill down the essence of my stand-up persona into those early scenes.

“So I think that’s probably a good primer on what to expect as well, if you come and see me on the tour.”

As for the future, Jack is grateful the door has been left open to Weatherfield.

He said: “Obviously the circumstances would have to be right. But I think, you know, from my side, there’s definitely no kind of reason why I wouldn’t really. But I think, yeah, it’d just be about the circumstances and the story being right for the show and all that kind of thing.
