Jurors have reached a verdict in the weeks-long murder trial of Blendon Township police officer Connor Grubb, who is charged in the shooting death of a pregnant woman in a grocery store parking lot.
The jury acquitted Grubb not guilty on all counts.
Grubb, 31, is charged with murder, felonious assault and involuntary manslaughter in connection with the Aug. 24, 2023, shooting death of 21-year-old Ta’Kiya Young, who was about six months pregnant when she died.

What charges did Connor Grubb face?
Here’s what Ohio law says about the six charges Grubb faced.
- Count 1, Felonious assault: Knowingly cause serious physical harm to Young
- Count 2, Felonious assault: Knowingly cause serious physical harm to Young with a deadly weapon
- Counts 3 and 4, Murder: Causing Young’s death while committing or attempting to commit felonious assault
- Counts 5 and 6, Involuntary manslaughter: Causing the unlawful termination of a pregnancy through a felonious assault
Common Pleas Court Judge David Young dismissed four counts Grubb initially faced, all of them relating to Ta’Kiya Young’s unborn child. Judge Young said the special prosecutors had not presented any evidence that Grubb knew Young was pregnant at the time he shot her.
