Swifties React Strongly to Barron’s Viral Post
The tension began when Broncos cornerback Jahdae Barron posted a snapshot from the Broncos’ 22-19 win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 16. The image, shared on Nov. 20, showed Barron leaping to defend Travis Kelce, who appeared to be losing his footing.
In screenshots highlighted by SI’s Zack Kelberman, Barron wrote, “Tell Swift put me on a song… RIGHT NOW.”

Swifties and NFL fans immediately dissected the jab. Many pointed out that despite the loss, Kelce delivered nine catches for 91 yards and a touchdown, while also breaking the Chiefs’ all-time touchdown record with 84.
On New Heights, Kelce admitted that the achievement didn’t carry its usual weight, saying, “Obviously, right now it’s soured because it’s coming off a f***ing loss. Our fifth loss of the season.”
Online, Swifties responded with a mix of humor and irritation. X user @Breanna77307215 compared the moment to a familiar Taylor Swift storyline, writing, “I think I’ve seen this film before, and he’s not going to like the ending.”

User @DustyLikins focused on Kelce’s production, noting his stat line and jokingly asking what the song title would be, suggesting “Cooked” or “Sourdough.”
Another user, @Akskygal, questioned whether Barron had forgotten “the CJ Gardner Johnson episode” before telling him to enjoy the regular-season victory.

Some mocked the Broncos’ sudden confidence, including @InTheoryChaotic, who remarked that they had been irrelevant for years and were only now acting bold because they were performing better.
User @JT4630 emphasized that Kelce “smoked you guys” with a 9-91-1 stat line and highlighted that he did so at age 36.
Meanwhile, @whoistayvis criticized Barron for posting the jab on Instagram instead of saying it directly to Kelce, calling it a weak move.

The numbers highlight why many fans felt Barron’s jab was premature. Although the Broncos hold the better record, the Chiefs remain the more efficient offense, and Kelce’s individual performance has not faltered.
The Chiefs will face the Indianapolis Colts on Nov. 23, but the conversation sparked by Barron’s post shows no signs of fading.
