Aldi announces it will close for three days

Shoppers might want to plan ahead for the coming months

Aldi has announced three days of closures during December and January as it announces when its stores in Merseyside will be open over the Christmas and New Year period. Until Tuesday December 23, shoppers can visit Aldi stores as usual meaning they can pick up everything they need to celebrate Christmas.

On Christmas Eve (December 24), stores will close at the earlier than usual time of 6pm and will remain closed on Christmas Day (December 25) and Boxing Day (December 26).

Aldi stores will then re-open from 8am on Saturday December 27, remaining open as usual until 6pm on Wednesday December 31. Stores will then be closed on New Year’s Day.

Customers are advised to check local store hours online for any variations.

  • Wednesday December 24– 7am until 6pm
  • Thursday December 25– Closed
  • Friday December 26– Closed

Shoppers can find a range of Christmas food at Aldi including one of its latest products, the Yorkshire pudding wrap.

Coming to shelves just in time for the festive season, the all-in-one alternative to a festive roast offers a Christmas dinner fix in an alternative format.

The Specially Selected Yorkshire Pudding Wraps are £3.49 for a 280g pack. The supermarket said its wrap provides a low-cost swap for the wraps found at city centre Christmas markets that can rise upwards of £10.

Inside there is with British turkey, pork sausage and bacon, layered with stuffing and cranberry sauce wrapped in a crispy Yorkshire pudding and served with a gravy dip. The wrap will be available in stores from November 26.

The wrap joins Aldi’s full festive sandwich range in stores now including the Specially Selected Honey Roast Gammon Ham & Christmas Slaw Bloomer (£2.75), Christmas Club Sandwich (£2.59) and Specially Selected Beef Wellington (£2.75).

Aldi’s Crestwood Festive Bakes (£1.39, two pack) are also back in stores now with chicken, beechwood smoked bacon and cranberries in a sage and onion sauce.

Aldi also has centrepieces, desserts, snacks and tipples, that shoppers need to stock up for a big Christmas meal.

Shoppers will find a selection of main dishes, party food, cheese, desserts, Christmas drinks and meat free options on Aldi shelves now, with more products being added throughout November and December.

Mains available from December 19 include the Specially Selected The Ultimate British Free-Range Whole Turkey (4-5.99kg), Specially Selected The Ultimate Slow Cooked Wagyu Shin (£29.99 per kg), Specially Selected Lamb Guard of Honour (£24.99 per kg) and Specially Selected The Ultimate Salmon Wellington (£12.99, 725g).

Party food is available from December 5 and includes the new Specially Selected Mini Barber’s Cheddar Cheese & Ham Hock Scones (£4.99, 8 pack), Specially Selected The Ultimate Wagyu Mini Sliders (£5.49, 280g) and Specially Selected Bao Buns (£4.29, 8 pack) with a choice of Sriracha King Prawn or Hoisin Vegetable.

Aldi’s cheese range includes the new Specially Selected Hickory Smoked Vintage Cheddar (£2.49, 200g), naturally matured for two years to develop then smoked with hickory logs, Aldi’s Specially Selected Speciality Cheeses (£2.49, 200g) in a range of flavours from Cheddar and Pineapple to Sweet and Smokey Maple Cheddar and Wensleydale Ballycastle with White Chocolate & Caramel.
