Rare event happening now in stratosphere — what that means for Michigan’s December weather

A Sudden Stratospheric Warming is happening this winter, and it might have an effect on the temperatures and snow in Michigan.

High above the North Pole, about 20 miles up in a layer of air called the stratosphere, something unusual is happening this winter. Temperatures there are rising very quickly. This is called a Sudden Stratospheric Warming, or SSW. During an SSW, the air in the stratosphere over the Arctic can warm by more than 50 degrees in just a few days.

Most of the time in winter, a tight “whirlwind” of very cold air spins over the North Pole. This is the polar vortex. Strong winds circle around it and usually keep the Arctic air locked up to the north.

‘S–t for f—ing poor people’: Campbell’s employee fired after complaining about VP’s rant

An employee of Campbell’s said he was fired after he complained about an upper-level executive’s explosive tirade on the product and its customers.

“He has no filter,” said Robert Garza, of Monroe, about his former supervisor at Campbell Soup Company and current Vice President Martin Bally. “He thinks he’s a C-level executive at a Fortune 500 company and he can do whatever he wants because he’s an executive.”

Garza said he recorded an hour-long rant by the top Campbell Soup Company executive because he said he trusted his “instinct that something wasn’t right with Martin,” when he went to meet with him to discuss his salary. Instead, he said he sat at a restaurant and listened to an explosive, hour-long tirade. He recorded all of it.

A Sterling Heights police officer’s quick actions helped save a 5-month-old baby.

Sterling Heights Police Officer Edwar Talia responded to the Walmart off Van Dyke Avenue on Nov. 1 at around 8:30 p.m. for a report of an infant choking and had stopped breathing.

Explaining dispute between President Donald Trump and Sen. Elissa Slotkin

President Donald Trump is accusing six lawmakers, including Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin, of sedition, “punishable by DEATH,’ after they called for U.S. military members to uphold the Constitution and refuse ”illegal orders.”

The Democratic lawmakers, all veterans of the armed services and intelligence community, posted a video on X directed towards U.S. service members on Thursday that caused a political stir.
