The Pacers are struggling to open the 2025-’26 NBA season without guard Tyrese Haliburton, who will miss the entire campaign as he recovers from offseason surgery on his right Achilles tendon. The Pacers are just 2-13 through 15 games after reaching the NBA Finals in June, where they fell to the Oklahoma City Thunder in seven games. The steady and smart play of Haliburton at the point appears to be a big missing ingredient, along with the departure of athletic big man Myles Turner in free agency. Indiana comes off just its second win of the season on Wednesday over the Charlotte Hornets (127-118), but now gets set to play two of the East’s best on Friday against the Cavs and Monday against the first-place Detroit Pistons.

The Cavaliers came up short to the Houston Rockets (114-104) in a Wednesday night challenge that wrapped with them falling to 10-6 on the season and 7-3 over their past 10 games. Top scorer Donovan Mitchell turned in his second-lowest scoring output of the season with 21 points on 8-of-17 shooting in that loss while De’Andre Hunter got hot from 3-point range and led the way with 25 points and five 3s. The Cavs are listed as 13.5-point betting favorites to bounce back on their home floor, where there are 6-3 this season.

The Cavs and Pacers are set for a 7 p.m. ET start exclusively on Prime Video, which comes with a free trial for new users.
