Suns’ Ryan Dunn Discusses Team Chemistry and Dillon Brooks’ Impact

In an impressive turn of events, the Suns have triumphed in eight of their last ten games, showcasing a newfound synergy that contrasts sharply with last year’s performance. Ryan Dunn shared his insights on the team’s improved dynamic in a recent interview, emphasizing several contributing factors.

Dunn attributes the team’s success to a combination of elements, including improved coaching and roster chemistry. He noted that the absence of heavy expectations has allowed players to perform more freely. “Our locker room is really, really good. We all gel together,” he remarked during his conversation with Arizona Sports’ Burns & Gambo.

This sense of unity appears to have been cultivated long before the season kicked off. Dunn highlighted the importance of bonding experiences, which included trips to Flagstaff—Devin Booker’s preferred retreat—as well as shared workouts and dinners. “I think we’re all gelling well. We all like each other,” he said. This camaraderie is evident both on and off the court and is pivotal in fostering a positive work environment.

Dunn made it clear that while last year’s team didn’t struggle with animosity, the current group exudes a noticeably different energy. “You can just feel a different sense of energy coming in on the floor and coming in the locker room,” he explained, attributing part of that atmosphere to certain key players.

One standout contributor to this reinvigorated locker room culture is Dillon Brooks, about whom Dunn had high praise. He described Brooks as a vital presence who not only brings intensity to the court but also warmth off it. “I always say he’s crazy when he walks around, sometimes when he plays, but just to have that person not only on the court but off the court, is really meaningful,” Dunn noted.

Dunn appreciates having Brooks as a teammate rather than facing him as an opponent, highlighting the defensive insight he gains from Brooks’ approach. “He sets the tone early for us just trying to make sure that we’re in the right headspace,” Dunn said, expressing gratitude for the lessons he’s learning in defense from his teammate.

Interestingly, Dunn pointed out that despite Brooks’ fierce competitive reputation, he possesses a down-to-earth personality off the court. “No, he’s not crazy. He’s really nice. He’s really down to earth. He likes to make jokes, he likes to laugh like everybody else,” Dunn clarified, illustrating that the intensity Brooks brings to the game does not extend to his personal demeanor.

The Suns, propelled by their chemistry and camaraderie, are showing promising signs this season, creating excitement among fans and leaving observers eager to see how far this new energy will take them.
