Jason Statham’s ‘A Working Man’ Emerges as a Streaming Hit Despite Mixed Reviews

Jason Statham’s latest action thriller has been making waves on streaming platforms, affirming his status as one of the foremost icons in the genre. Known for his high-octane performances, Statham steps into the role of a man with a shadowy past, engaging in a fight against human traffickers. The film, directed by David Ayer and featuring a script by Statham’s Expendables co-star Sylvester Stallone, draws inspiration from Chuck Dixon’s 2014 novel “Levon’s Trade.”

Alongside Statham, the cast includes notable actors such as David Harbour from “Stranger Things,” Michael Peña of “End of Watch,” and Jason Flemyng, among others. Although the critical reception has been mixed—holding a 47% rating on Rotten Tomatoes—the film has resonated with audiences, achieving an impressive 87% on the Popcornmeter.

In “A Working Man,” Statham portrays Levon Cade, a figure who left a decorated military career to seek a quieter life in construction. However, his life takes a tumultuous turn when he discovers that his boss’s daughter, whom he regards as family, has been kidnapped by traffickers. His quest to rescue her plunges him into a world rife with corruption and peril.

Despite facing criticism, the film has secured a solid place in the streaming domain, ranking among Prime Video’s Top 10 alongside other action titles featuring stars like Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson.

Looking ahead, audiences can anticipate Statham in “Shelter,” directed by Ric Roman Waugh, set to debut on January 30, 2026. In this film, he portrays a recluse on a remote Scottish island whose life unravels after saving a girl, ultimately confronting his tumultuous past. Additionally, he is expected to feature in “Mutiny,” the sequel to “The Beekeeper,” and collaborate again with director Guy Ritchie in “Viva La Madness.”

Statham’s enduring appeal in action cinema remains undisputed, as he continues to deliver thrilling performances that captivate viewers worldwide.
