Jason Statham’s Crowd-Pleasing “Bang Bang Shoot ‘Em Up” Action Thriller Fights Its Way to Streaming Success

The latest action thriller effort from Jason Statham continues to find success on streaming, with the genre icon proving once again why he’s one of the most popular actors to ever throw his fists into the endless faces of anonymous enemies. The actor remains one of the most popular action heroes on the planet, with his latest outing once again putting him in the classic role of a man with a mysterious past and pitting him against human traffickers.
Directed by The Beekeeper’s David Ayer with a script from Statham’s Expendables co-star and fellow action movie icon Sylvester Stallone, A Working Man is based on the 2014 novel “Levon’s Trade” by Chuck Dixon. Starring David Harbour (Stranger Things, Thunderbolts*), Michael Peña (End of Watch), Jason Flemyng (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels), Arianna Rivas (The Black Phone 2), Noemi Gonzalez (Selena: The Series), and Emmett J. Scanlan (Peaky Blinders, Kin) alongside Statham, the action thriller may not have been as a big a hit with critics as the actor and martial artist’s first foray as an assassin-turned-apiarist, but has been embraced by audiences.
Thus, A Working Man marks another massive streaming hit for The Stath, with the action outing once again finding itself in the Top 10 on Prime Video alongside the likes of Mark Wahlberg’s Play Dirty, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Christmas action comedy Red One, and Reacher star Alan Ritchson’s latest action offering, Playdate.
Jason Statham Once Again “Delivers High-Octane Action” in ‘A Working Man’

A Working Man proved to be deeply divisive upon release, causing yet another rift between critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. The action outing now holds a green-splattered 47% from critics on the review aggregator site, alongside a “Verified Hot” 87% from audiences on the Popcornmeter. “The Stath stoically and reliably delivers high-octane action in A Working Man, a bang bang shoot ’em up that pairs perfectly with hot, buttery popcorn,” the audience consensus reads. You can check out the official synopsis for A Working Man below…
“Levon Cade left behind a decorated military career in the black ops to live a simple life working construction. But when his boss’s daughter, who is like family to him, is taken by human traffickers, his search to bring her home uncovers a world of corruption far greater than he ever could have imagined.”
Jason Statham continues to fight the good fight for throwback, no-nonsense, action thriller fare. Looking to the action movie horizon, audiences will next sit down to watch The Stath take care of business in Shelter from Angel Has Fallen director Ric Roman Waugh. Set for release on January 30, 2026, Shelter sees the popular action star taking the lead as a recluse living on a remote Scottish island who, after rescuing a girl, unleashes a perilous sequence of events that culminate in an attack on his home, compelling him to face his turbulent history.
Statham will also lead Plane director Jean-François Richet’s Mutiny, return for The Beekeeper 2 under director Timo Tjahjanto, and reunite with director Guy Ritchie for the pair’s long-gestating action crime thriller and Layer Cake semi-sequel, Viva La Madness.
