Woeful England capitulate to lose first Ashes Test inside two days

Labuschagne gives himself room outside his leg stump and swats Atkinson away through mid-wicket for four. There have been plenty of Bazball shots in this session from Australia. And there is the latest example as Head blasts the ball back past Atkinson for another four. No-one could have predicted what has happened across the last two hours.
Head then guides one just over Carse’s head at point and gets another boundary to bring up the 100 partnership off just 85 balls. That was so close to being caught and Head was imploring it to “get over” and it just about did.
Labuschagne gets another boundary as he pulls down the ground for four through mid-on. The number of times Head and Labuschagne have pulled down the ground shows the difference in the pitch from yesterday to today as there is not quite the same pace, zip and bounce which would prevent those types of shots.
Australia look set to wrap this one up today as they need just another 23 runs.
