Injured Chargers’ RB Returns Vs Jaguars

The Los Angeles Chargers are battling for a critical Week 11 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, but concerns arose early in the second quarter when running back Kimani Vidal appeared to suffer a leg injury. On a third-and-14 swing pass, Vidal was tackled low and grabbed his left leg, later walking off the field under his own power. According to Daniel Popper, Vidal is now listed as questionable to return with a thigh injury, though he was spotted riding the stationary bike on the sideline, suggesting he has a shot to rejoin the game.
From Practice Squad to Featured Back
Vidal’s rise this season has been remarkable. Originally a sixth-round pick who began the year on the practice squad, he seized the opportunity to step into a starting role following injuries to Najee Harris and Omarion Hampton. Through seven games, Vidal has led all Chargers rushers with 91 carries for 404 yards and two touchdowns, averaging an efficient 4.44 yards per attempt. His versatility extends to the passing game, where he has recorded 10 receptions for 53 yards and a touchdown.

Several standout outings underscore Vidal’s impact. In Week 6 against the Miami Dolphins, he rushed for 124 yards on 18 carries and added a receiving touchdown. Week 8 against Minnesota saw 117 rushing yards and his first ground touchdown of the season, while Week 10 against Pittsburgh featured a career-high 25 carries for 95 yards and another touchdown. His workload has steadily increased, averaging over 15 carries per game across the past six contests, and he has proven reliable in red zone situations, accumulating 21 rushing attempts and two touchdowns inside the 20-yard line.
Vidal’s emergence as the Chargers’ primary back highlights both his efficiency and versatility, making his health a key factor in Los Angeles’ playoff push. The team’s offensive strategy and continued success could hinge on whether Vidal can return to the field later in this pivotal game.
