South Carolina basketball coach Lamont Paris on Sunday announced the signing of 6-2 Marcus Johnson of Cleveland. Johnson had announced his commitment to the Gamecocks earlier in the week.
Johnson is the cousin of current USC star guard Meechie Johnson. He decommitted from Ohio State earlier in the month and drew interest from Arkansas, Florida and Michigan following his decommitment, but he did not take any visits. Paris and a couple of assistants visited him in Cleveland on Halloween, and that apparently set the stage for the ultimate decision.
