Hansi Flick: ‘The stadium could help a lot’

This Saturday, Hansi Flick will experience his first match as FC Barcelona head coach at the Spotify Camp Nou. Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Barça v Athletic Club, the blaugrana manager was visibly excited about returning home.
“At training the feeling was incredible, with all the fans there” he said. “We’re happy, and I hope it gives us that extra edge thanks to the supporters being so close. They always help us, and it’s wonderful to see this bond between the team and the fans.”
Quality opponent
Barça will face an Athletic Club side that, according to Flick, “has a lot of quality … It’s a good opportunity to measure ourselves … There’s a long way to go this season. Just like last year, we mustn’t have any doubts about the way we want to play. We’re staying on the same path.”
Joan Garcia, in; Rashford, doubt
Flick also gave updates on the condition of Joan Garcia, Rashford, Raphinha and Pedri. Concerning the goalkeeper, he confirmed that Garcia will start, having overcome his meniscus problem. He also highlighted that Raphinha’s return is “good news,” though it remains to be seen “how many minutes he can play.”
Marcus Rashford, however, is doubtful for the match. “Rashford has a fever and missed both yesterday and today. I’m not sure he’ll be able to make it tomorrow,” Flick admitted.
On Pedri, he stressed the importance of caution: “We’re not putting pressure on him, but he’s doing well. He’ll be back soon.”
