Update (November 22, 14:02 CET): Contrary to Bayern’s expectations, Luis Díaz has officially been handed a three-match European ban by UEFA.

When Luis Díaz was shown a red card in Bayern Munich’s 2-1 Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain at the start of November, it was clear he would face a European suspension.

Until now, however, the exact length of the ban has been uncertain.

At a press conference on Friday, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany confirmed that the Colombian international will only miss the game against Arsenal on Wednesday as a result of the sending off.

“My information is that he’s suspended for one game,” Bayern coach Vincent Kompany said.

“I’d be really disappointed if it turned out my information wasn’t correct,” he added with a smile, with Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund subsequently confirming that his information aligns with Kompany’s.

During the press conference, Kompany also pointed out that the team’s focus is fully on Saturday’s Bundesliga clash against Freiburg rather than the Arsenal game.

“There’s no question of any load management for [Díaz]. He has to help us with his energy. The game against Arsenal doesn’t have much influence. The lads will go into the Freiburg game full of energy. We want to win that game and aren’t worrying about Arsenal yet,” Kompany said.
