UFC Qatar video: Asu Almabayev jumps the guillotine choke, scores nasty submission to finish Alex Perez

Asu Almabayev was in a battle with Alex Perez through two rounds but wasted no time snatching a guillotine choke in the third to get the finish at UFC Qatar.
After a back-and-forth battle on the feet as well as some grappling exchanges on the ground, Almabayev finally found an opening for a huge spinning wheel kick that cracked Perez at the start of the third round. A split second later, Almabayev jumped into a guillotine choke with Perez still standing and the submission was locked on tight.
With little chance of escape, Perez had no choice but to tap out with the end coming just 22 seconds into the third round.
“I’m waiting for the bonuses, I’m going to keep talking about it,” Almabayev said via a Kazakh translator after his latest win. “I had seven fights in two years. I’m just going to keep working hard to earn my shot.”
Perez, who has struggled to stay active over the past few years, looked good early as he mixed together his striking and grappling to keep Almabayev guessing. In return, Almabayev just kept working in every position, including the spin kicks that kept paying dividends.
He landed a kick to the liver earlier in the fight that clearly affected Perez but then Almabayev went up top to the head, which led to the opening to grab the guillotine choke for the finish.
With the win, Almabayev moves to 6-1 in the UFC while continuing to make a steady climb up the flyweight rankings.
