Celebrity Big Brother scrapped from ITV spring schedule just days after Late & Live axe

CELEBRITY Big Brother has been scrapped from ITV’s springtime schedule days after Late & Live was axed.

To make way for other already-commissioned programmes, the star-spangled spy house won’t return in March and April as usual but will instead air at a later date.

It comes in the same week as The Sun revealed ITV had axed Big Brother spin-off show Late & Live.

Channel boss Kevin Lygo had already confirmed in August that Celebrity Big Brother would move from ITV1 to ITV2.

The show has aired in March and April on ITV1 for the last two years, slotting in after Love Island All Stars.

But the move to ITV2 means it’s had to make way for other priorities.

The channel had already committed to existing shows and new formats for the beginning half of 2026.

A source said: “ITV has confirmed CBB and BB will both air in 2026 but it’s fair to say that news of it being shifted in the schedule for other programmes doesn’t exactly instil confidence.

“Fans will fear it demonstrates a lack of commitment from ITV.

“But ITV insist that they love AJ Odudu and Will Best and that BB remains a priority reality format because of solid ratings and impressive online streams.”

A spokesperson for ITV said: “We are committed to both Celebrity Big Brother and Big Brother beyond 2025, and scheduling for any new series will be confirmed in due course. The show remains a priority reality format for us having recently hit 150 million streams on ITVX.”

This year’s CBB was won by Coronation Street actor Jack P. Shepherd.

He beat RuPaul‘s Drag Race star Danny Beard to the top spot of the competition.

The series became notable for the love story between Chris Hughes and JoJo Siwa.

Other celebs included Patsy Palmer, Angellica Bell, Mickey Rourke and Donna Preston.

It was the second edition of CBB to air on ITV following the show’s 2023 reboot.

The first ITV edition was won by Ibiza Weekender star David Potts and included housemates such as Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh, Bradley Riches and Fern Britton.

Celebrity Big Brother has so far aired 25 series after first debuting in 2001 on Channel 4.
