Alex Rodriguez makes rare comment on Cameron Diaz relationship in docuseries

Alex Rodriguez briefly reflected on the intensity of his and Cameron Diaz’s relationship in the latest episode of his docuseries.
As the athlete spoke about the New York Yankees’ 2009 World Series win during Thursday’s episode of “Alex vs ARod,” throwback photos of himself with the actress appeared onscreen.
“I feel like the World Series came and went,” the former MLB star, 50, told viewers. “I was basically at the pinnacle of my baseball career.”

The former MLB star did not elaborate further on all that he had “going on” with Diaz, whom he was romantically linked to in the spring of 2010.
The “Charlie’s Angels” star confirmed the romance to Elle UK in June of the following year.

The Golden Globe nominee, who has since married Benji Madden, joked that she was “living out of a suitcase” before giving the magazine insight into their dynamic.
“All I want for him is happiness. All he wants is my happiness,” she explained to the outlet at the time. “His isn’t reliant on me, and mine isn’t on him.”
After their breakup made headlines in September 2011, Rodriguez called his ex “one of the greatest human beings [he’s] ever met and just an amazing light.”

During last week’s installment of the HBO show, he and ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis spoke about the affairs that led to the end of their marriage — including Rodriguez’s long-rumored tryst with Madonna.
While the businessman did not confirm or deny his dalliance with the Grammy-winning singer, he admitted that he “could have been more loyal” while married to Scurtis.
“In hindsight, I could have been a better husband,” he said. “I could have been more present… I could have been more sympathetic, empathetic, all of it. You name it.”

As for Scurtis, she felt “a sense of freedom” when the duo called it quits after six years of marriage.
“At the same time, he was really upset, so that affected me,” she said.
The pair finalized their divorce in 2008 and have since co-parented daughters Natasha, 21, and Ella, 17.
