Four people fighting for life after early-morning blaze north of Brisbane

A person has died and four others are fighting for their lives after a massive house fire north of Brisbane this morning.

Fire crews rushed to Darcy Way, Lawnton, in the Moreton Bay region, at 5.45am on Sunday to find the house engulfed in flames and the roof collapsed.

On arrival, they found four people on the front lawn, with another found dead inside the house.

Two teenagers – a boy and a girl – and a man and woman in their 30s were treated by 18 paramedics at the scene before being rushed to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in life-threatening conditions.

Firefighters evacuated neighbouring properties at the height of the blaze, but managed to contain the fire about 7am.

The neighbours have since returned to their homes.
