A woman’s death in Swindon is now the focus of a murder investigation.

Police were called to a property on Baydon Close, Moredon, Friday evening (21/11), due to reports of a disorder which had taken place inside the house.

Inside officers found a woman aged in her 50s, who was living at the address, not breathing. Despite the efforts of emergency services, she was declared dead at the scene. Her next of kin has been informed.

A was scene set up in the property while enquiries were carried out to establish the full circumstances around her death.

A 13 year old girl has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been taken into custody for questioning.

DI Darren Ambrose from the Major Crime Investigation Team said: “This is a serious incident in which a woman has sadly died.

“We have set up a cordon at the address while an investigation is carried out. This is likely to remain in place overnight and throughout tomorrow.

“I can confirm that we have arrested a teenage girl in connection with this incident and we are not looking for anyone else.

“We would encourage people not to speculate on the circumstances around this incident.

“We appreciate the concern that this may cause the local community. If you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to speak to an officer.”
