‘My sister said I had no chance of winning the lottery again – now she’s kicking herself’

A teaching assistant who previously won the lottery has once again secured a huge prize. Chantelle Riley, 47, from Castle Bromwich, has won £50,000 in the People’s Postcode Lottery.
The mum-of-four is one of 18 neighbours to share £1 million in the B36 area of the city. Each of the neighbours secured £50,000 as their share of the People’s Postcode Lottery, making it a memorable win for the community. For Ms Riley, the victory was especially remarkable, as it marked her third major success in the lottery – she had previously won £14,221 and £1,078, adding to her streak of good fortune.
Luckily, Ms Riley had convinced her partner to sign up for the lottery as well, which means he has also won the huge sum of £50,000-along with the 16 others in the area, reports Birmingham Live.
She said: “I can’t believe it. I’m feeling kind of numb. It’s unreal. I won £14,000 in the B36 9 postcode, which is literally across the road. And then two years ago I won again at that postcode. And now this my third win and my biggest. I feel very lucky.”
Her lottery journey began in 2014 when she won a £14,000 cheque, a moment that encouraged her to continue playing with the same postcode. Her persistence paid off again eight years later when she secured another win of £1,000. Even after moving house twice since her first big win, Ms Riley remained committed to the Postcode Lottery, consistently buying tickets for her current address as well as her two previous ones, ensuring she never missed out on the chance to win.
The mother of four, who works at a special educational needs school, is planning to purchase the home she has been renting for the past six years.
She said: “I’ve moved a few times, and I kept my tickets going at each address. I didn’t want to miss out if any of my postcodes came up. Last time I won, my sister said, ‘Well, I’m not going to sign up for Postcode Lottery because you won’t win again round here.’ Now I have… and she’s kicking herself.”
The 18 Auckland Drive residents won a share of the Millionaire Street prize when B36 0RX was announced as the winner on Saturday.
Each winning ticket in the People’s Postcode Lottery was valued at £50,000, but one fortunate player managed to triple their prize to £150,000 by entering with three tickets. Remarkably, this marks the sixth postcode to scoop a £1 million prize within just six days.
