Melville Millionaires hold on to edge the Yorkton Terriers on Friday night

The Melville Millionaires erased an early two-goal deficit and held on for a 5–4 road win over the Yorkton Terriers on Friday night.
Yorkton struck early on a 5-on-3 powerplay, with William Leonard finishing a backdoor feed from Gabriel Courchesne for his team-leading 12th just 1:59 in. Jye Zawatsky made it 2–0 at 9:30, sneaking a shot over the right shoulder of Noah Sinagowitz for his 11th.
Melville answered quickly. Just 47 seconds later, Keil Schmalz went end-to-end and beat Callum Creig short side for his second of the year, and Leo Jewitt followed up by burying a rebound for his fifth to send the teams into the break tied 2–2.
The game stayed even until late in the second when Brayden Gourley sprung Rylan Oatman on a breakaway at 17:50, and Oatman made no mistake to give the Mils their first lead.
Melville added to it early in the third. Kale Margolis tapped in a rebound, and Nathan Taylor fired home his first SJHL goal to make it a 5–2 game.
Yorkton pushed back late. Leonard scored his second of the night with 4:03 left, and Tylan Henrikson pulled the Terriers within one with 1:15 remaining, but that was as close as they’d get.
Sinagowitz finished with 30 saves on 34 shots for his fifth win of the season. Creig allowed five goals on 27 shots for Yorkton before Alexandro Montoya stopped all four shots he faced in relief.
The home-and-home shifts to Melville on Saturday night at 7:00 at the CN Community Centre.
