Nico Iamaleava injury update: UCLA QB leaves game vs Washington

Alabama drops to No. 10 in college football playoff rankings

Alabama falls six spots in college football playoff rankings after home loss to Oklahoma.

UCLA’s season has been in a tailspin, and it’s gotten worse with an injury to quarterback Nico Iamaleava.

The Bruins’ signal-caller suffered an injury in the third quarter of the game against Washington on Saturday, Nov. 22. The UCLA offense had struggled mightily against the Huskies and on a third down play, Iamaleava tried to scramble before he was hit by the Washington defensive line.

As he was sacked, Iamaleava took a hit to the helmet and he stayed on the ground for an extended period of time as team personnel attended to him.

Iamaleava eventually got up and went into the medical tent. He left the game with Washington leading 27-0 at the Rose Bowl.

Nico Iamaleava injury update

It’s unknown what injury Iamaleava suffered, but given the hit to the head, he’s likely being checked for a concussion.

Backup quarterback Luke Duncan went in when UCLA’s offense returned to the field. Iamaleava was seen on the NBC broadcast heading into the locker room without his jersey on and a towel on his head.

It also comes after the UCLA starting quarterback missed the previous game against Ohio State due to a concussion. He had suffered a concussion in Week 11 against Nebraska.

Duncan started in place of Iamaleava against the Buckeyes. UCLA lost that game 48-10, its third straight loss.

UCLA is 3-7 on the season.
