Martin Brundle to Miss Las Vegas Grand Prix as Sky F1 Adjusts Lineup

Fans of Formula 1 will be missing a familiar face at this weekend’s Las Vegas Grand Prix, as legendary commentator Martin Brundle will not be present. His absence leaves a notable gap during what many expected to be a star-studded grid walk.
As the F1 season enters its final stages, with only three rounds left in this extensive 24-race calendar, Brundle appears to be taking a break in line with his new contract with Sky Sports. Under this revised agreement, he is now committed to working only 16 race weekends, a decision influenced by the network’s efforts to cut costs amid F1’s extensive schedule.
Brundle’s absence was first noted during the Italian Grand Prix earlier this year, with reports indicating that his contract changes are part of a broader adjustment by Sky. This weekend in Las Vegas, viewers have already seen a different lineup for the live broadcasts, with Anthony Davidson, David Croft, and 2009 champion Jenson Button sharing commentary duties alongside pundit Bernie Collins.
Sky Sports operates on a rotating schedule, meaning that Brundle and his colleagues are not guaranteed to be present at every grand prix. Although Croft often has a substitute, Harry Benjamin, there is currently no set replacement for Brundle. Consequently, the responsibility for this Saturday night’s grid walk on the famous Las Vegas Strip will likely fall to various other presenters from Sky.

The network has been covering the night-time race, showcasing the drama of the event with contributions from Simon Lazenby, Ted Kravitz, and Collins, with Kravitz known for his eccentric pitlane reporting and signature Notebook segments. With Brundle’s absence, the excitement of the grid walk may take on a different flavor, as Sky Sports adapts its lineup to ensure comprehensive coverage of the thrilling F1 action.
