Bangkok and nearby central provinces are expected to cool sharply this week, with temperatures forecast to drop by 2-4 C between Nov. 17 and 23.

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) announced that a “strong high-pressure system” from China is pushing into upper Thailand and the South China Sea, which Vietnam calls the East Sea. This system is expected to bring thunderstorms and gusty winds at the start of the period.

According to the TMD, the unstable conditions will begin in the northeast, affecting provinces such as Ubon Ratchathani, Si Sa Ket, and Nakhon Ratchasima, before spreading to other regions.

Following the rain, temperatures will fall. The northeast is expected to see the sharpest drop of 4–7 C, while the north and central regions, including Bangkok, will cool by 2–4 C.

For the capital, the TMD forecasts minimum temperatures between 20–22 C and maximums around 30–32 C.

The U.S.-based AccuWeather provides a similar forecast, predicting highs in Bangkok will be between 27–29 C with lows holding at 21–22 C from Nov. 19-22.
