Mike Vrabel’s admission on RB split with Rhamondre Stevenson return

New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel met with media members this week and talked about the potential split load at running back if Rhamondre Stevenson returns for Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Stevenson has missed the last three games with a toe injury, and that has led to more opportunities for rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson. Henderson has recorded 264 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground through that three-game stretch alone. He has also caught 10 passes for 66 yards and a touchdown.

Terrell Jennings has managed to step up in Stevenson’s absence as well with 22 carries for 73 yards. He scored the first touchdown of his career against the Atlanta Falcons earlier in the month.

“I think we’ll probably have to have that conversation when it’s certain that we’re going to have Rhamondre,” Vrabel told media members. “TreVeyon’s helped us, Rhamondre’s helped us, Terrell’s helped us. …We’ll try to have them all help us. But, it’s been good to see TreVeyon continue to run hard and take care of the football.”

Stevenson is expected to return for the Patriots in the Week 12 matchup against the Bengals.

That creates some added intrigue when it comes to the running back split. A decision will need to be made with either Stevenson or Henderson getting the start for the Patriots.
