OSU football legend deposed in Ohio State sex abuse lawsuit

A former Ohio State football star has been deposed in a lawsuit against the university concerning sexual abuse by Dr. Richard Strauss.

Archie Griffin played for Ohio State from 1972 to 1975 — and remains the only player in college football history to have won the Heisman Trophy twice — during which time Strauss served as a team physician.

An investigation by the university revealed that at least 177 male students and athletes were abused by Strauss from the 1970s to the late 1990s.

The school has a statement about the scandal and investigation on its website here, and has posted a 182-page report about its findings here.

Griffin, a Columbus native who is now 71 years old, remains active in the OSU community and can be seen at just about every home football game.

Attorneys also have spent a year trying to serve Les Wexner, who was on the university’s board of trustees while Strauss was practicing, so that he can testify.
