With Josh Jacobs a game-time decision, Packers elevate depth to backfield

5 questions with LeRoy Butler: Should Packers QB Malik Willis play more?

LeRoy Butler talks about why Malik Willis should get some snaps at quarterback for the Packers, and the role receiver Christian Watson should have.

GREEN BAY − If Josh Jacobs is unable to play against the Minnesota Vikings, the Green Bay Packers provided some extra depth for their backfield one day earlier.

The Packers elevated running back Pierre Strong Jr. from the practice squad to active roster for game day. Strong was also elevated before the Packers trip to the Arizona Cardinals last month, making this his second of the season. He was left inactive against the Cardinals.

He might be inactive again if Jacobs is able to play. Jacobs is listed as questionable with a knee injury and is considered a true game-time decision. If Jacobs is inactive, Strong will give the Packers a third running back behind Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks.

The Packers also elevated linebacker Jamon Johnson from the practice squad to the active roster for game day for the first time this season.
