PHOTOS: Santa Claus Parade ushers in the Christmas season

Thousands of people lined downtown Sudbury streets on Saturday to view 68 floats which made up the Sudbury Santa Claus Parade
Downtown Sudbury was packed with thousands of people lining streets for the Santa Claus Parade on Saturday.
Led by Franco-Ontarian music icon Chuck Labelle as its musical grand marshall and capped by a float featuring what Sudbury Santa Claus Parade chair Brian Howe said was of course the real Santa Claus, despite Claus carrying a startling physical similarity to Howe himself, the family-friendly event appeared to be well-received by Greater Sudburians.
The theme was Christmas movies, and judging from the number of Grinches, “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” appears to be a local favourite.
An unofficial theme among youths who yelled “six-seven” throughout the parade was also… whatever it is that means.
There were 68 floats registered for this year’s parade, which kicked off with a fireworks display.
