Report: Packers’ Josh Jacobs out vs. Vikings with knee injury

The Green Bay Packers will be down their leading rusher for a pivotal divisional matchup.

Josh Jacobs will sit out Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings as he nurses a knee injury, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported.

Jacobs left last Sunday’s game with the injury after falling hard on the MetLife Stadium turf in New York. He avoided any serious injury and is dealing with what head coach Matt LaFleur called a “contusion.”

While there was some optimism from Jacobs that he could play against the Vikings, the Packers opted to play it safe with the team returning to the field on Thursday.

Jacobs told reporters earlier this week that worse-case scenario, he’d miss just the Vikings game. He practiced on a limited basis on Thursday and Friday.

In Jacobs’ absence, Emanuel Wilson is expected to get the bulk of the work for Green Bay. The 26-year-old had 11 carries for 40 yards and a score last Sunday after Jacobs exited, totalling 220 yards on the ground this season.
