‘ABBA Voyage’ eyes NYC transfer

The hit, high-tech concert experience from London features holograms of the ABBA members performing the Swedish pop band’s greatest hit songs.

ABBA Voyage might be voyaging across the pond to NYC. According to a November 21 report from W42ST, the production has filed plans for a custom-built arena in Midtown Manhattan set to open in 2028.

According to the W42ST report, the new venue will replace the current vacant buildings at 613–623 11th Avenue, between 45th and 46th Streets, and have a 3,000-seat capacity.

ABBA Voyage is a futuristic concert experience featuring animated holograms, or “ABBAtars,” of the Swedish band’s members (Agnetha Fältskog, Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Benny Andersson, and Björn Ulvaeus). As at a standard concert, they perform hit songs like “Dancing Queen” and “Mamma Mia” alongside deeper cuts. The show premiered in 2022 in London, where it is still running.

ABBA Voyage is a concert for the ages,” a five-star London Theatre review reads. “Add in visual effects from Industrial Light & Magic — the brains behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe — and the end result is sublime, defining the phrase ‘needs to be seen to be believed.'”

An official announcement of an ABBA Voyage NYC transfer, including any further details, has yet to be made.
