Spain plans major overhaul to its residency and VISA system for foreigners

Spain has confirmed a major digital overhaul of its residency and VISA system for foreigners which will mean some changes, according to a report from Healthplan. According to the article it could change how applications from foreigners are submitted and even what paperwork is required.
According to Healthplan Spain is planning major changes in an effort to make the system more efficient. It plans to introduce a single digital platform which will bring together all applications from across the country. It is set to launch next year.
Spain has long suffered wiith problems regarding paperwork for foreigners. At the moment there are few appointments available for people who want to apply for the TIE residence card. The whole process can take up to six months.
According to Healthplan, one of the biggest changes will be a centralised document checking system. At the moment this is done at regional level and there are differences between various parts of the country. There should no longer be regional differences.
The Spanish government says that it is a major step forward in making the system easier and more efficient.
