Beloved ‘90s Country Neo-Traditionalist Releases Brand New Holiday Track ‘From the Vault’ Years After Suffering a Stroke

Randy Travis is bringing Christmas early with the release of his brand new holiday-themed track, “Where My Heart Is.”

Available everywhere and out today (Friday, November 21) via Warner Records, the festive song finds the seven-time Grammy winner yearning to spend time with his family during Christmas and hoping they won’t start traditions without him.

Don’t start the celebration without me / You know I wouldn’t wanna miss one thing,” the country icon, 66, begs on the chorus of the heartwarming track. “From hanging every decoration / To opening the front door when we hear carolers sing.”

The Track Serves To Remind Folks How Magical His Artistry Is

Not only does the track reflect Travis’s love for the holiday season, but his pleasant and rich signature vocals shine over a simple backbeat that’s peppered with dancing fiddles and warm pedal steel.

Travis, who suffered a stroke in 2013, recorded “Where My Heart” before his unforeseen medical emergency, making the tune a special, one-of-a-kind rediscovered piece of country music history, bridging his legendary past with the present.

“’Where My Heart Is’ is special because it takes me home, and it’s from the vault,” Travis, with the help of his wife Mary, released in a statement. “I recorded it before my stroke, so it’s a reminder of the blessings of yesteryear and the hope of tomorrow.”

“Christmas time is a special time spent with family and friends, as we celebrate the reason for the season…hold those moments in your heart always,” he added. “We hope you and yours enjoy my long-awaited release in the warmth of the Holidays with those you hold dear.”

Randy Travis Has Shown His Love for the Holidays Through the Years

“Where My Heart Is” isn’t the first seasonal offering from Travis. In 1989, he released his holiday-themed album 1989’s An Old Time Christmas, followed by 2007’s Songs of the Season, both of which have become staples of country holiday playlists.

Coinciding with the fresh release of “Where My Heart Is,” the Randy Travis Foundation has teamed up with Absolutely Ridiculous — a Nashville-based sporting brand — to supply 100,000 kids in need with new baseball and softball gear.
