Is Jameson Williams Injured? A Look at Whether the Lions WR Is Hurt Amid Slow Start in Week 12 vs. Giants

Not many fans expected the score of this game to be in the New York Giants’ favor at halftime. Jameis Winston has the New York offense rolling against the Detroit Lions, as the latter trail by three points with the game approaching halftime.

Jameson Williams’ Slow Start

Williams has been a complete non-factor through the first half. Jared Goff has targeted the speedy receiver twice, but to no avail. He is a very dangerous weapon for this Detroit offense and needs to get the ball to keep the New York defense on their toes.

The Lions suffered a brutal loss in Week 11 and are looking to bounce back. They were not expecting to start slow against the two-win Giants, but that’s where they are and will have to figure it out before potentially suffering another crushing defeat.

The Lions have to keep pace in a tightly contested NFC North race with the Packers, Bears, and the Lions all within a game of each other. This could be season-altering for Detroit if they fall to the New York. Not only would this potentially end their divisional hopes, but it would also impact their playoff chances greatly.

Feeding Williams the ball in space could be the recipe for success. His speed is an absolute force, and the Eagles’ defense saw it firsthand in Week 11. Williams was responsible for Detroit’s only touchdown last week as he got away from the defender and burned all other tackles with his speed. He had four catches for 88 yards and the touchdown. They cannot leave the second half without getting the ball to Williams.

Williams ranks 17th in PFSN’s WR Impact score with a grade of 80.6. Between Williams, St. Brown, and Gibbs, they have plenty of offensive weapons to blow the Giants out of the water in the second half.

The Lions have some tough games remaining on their schedule, including some key divisional matchups. Those will prove to be make-or-break for Detroit as long as they don’t shoot themselves in the foot before then.

The Lions are staring at a short week as they are set to take on the Packers in their annual Thanksgiving matinee. Losing back-to-back games and facing a tough Packers team for the season is a nightmare scenario for Detroit. The only way to avoid that fate is a strong second-half performance from a team with Super Bowl aspirations.
