He already had a big following before entering the jungle but Salford’s Angry Ginge is proving to be among this year’s most popular contestants.
Liked by viewers and his fellow campmates, the Eccles lad who turned 24 as he arrived in Australia for ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, remains favourite to win the show.
Ginge and rapper Aitch, from Moston, have been switching around at the top of the table throughout the first week and it looks increasingly like it’ll be one of the Manchester boys to be crowned King.
Fans of Angry Ginge, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, already know a fair bit about the Twitch streamer from his various social platforms.

He’s become more of a familiar face after playing at Soccer Aid in June and appeared on a celebrity episode of Gogglebox alongside his close friend, darts champion Luke Littler.
Closer to home and many Salfordians know the former Salford City Academy pupil as the manager of Winton Wanderers Yanited, a team he took over in 2024. As a passionate Manchester United fan, he’s openly supported grass roots football throughout his career.
Despite his name, he’s not actually an angry person. Earlier this week his close friends and fellow steamers Chazza and Heinz appeared on ITV talkshow Lorraine and explained where the name came from.
“When he used to play Fifa, he used to rage at the game, so I think that’s one of the words he used to describe himself. It’s passion and dedication… he genuinely is one of the nicest guys,” Chazza said.

Heinz stated: “I think that’ll surprise people in the jungle, because they’ll see his name.”
But what else have we learnt about Angry Ginge during his jungle stint. Well his first week has revealed a few things about him, including…..
1. He can get along with anyone
He proved quite quickly how easily he can get along with people. Even when Ruby Wax was initially accused of being rude to him telling him ‘you’re in my light’, he laughed it off and has been pretty much laughing with Ruby and his other campmates ever since. He already had a close bond with Aitch before the pair arrived in Oz, but the pals have been inseparable in camp.

2. He’s quite clumsy
It didn’t take long before he was being mocked as the ‘clumsy’ one of camp after twice managing to accidentally put out the campfire. He and Aitch also had an amusing exchange of words when Ginge was questioning Jack’s attempts to get the fire going.
He suggested that blowing on the fire would put it out, in the same way as blowing out a birthday candle, to which Aitch responded: “Stop it, you are being stupid!”
3. He can eat anything
He proved to the world that he can pretty much eat anything after he was voted on a gruesome eating trial with Ruby Wax. The social media star managed to chomp down on – and swallow – a range of jungle delicacies including crocodile anus, a bull’s tongue with a fish eye glaze, and a camel toe with cockroach-infused smoke, which made him retch.
And while he can seemingly keep anything down, he found great amusement in watching his mate Aitch attempting, and failing, to eat fish eyes in a separate challenge.
4. He’s fearless
He’d already revealed his fear of spiders, but in Thursday night’s show, Ginge proved that he’s got what it takes to tackle his nemesis. Tasked with grabbing hold of large Huntsman spiders, he looked visibly nervous, but managed to get hold of the hairy creatures and move them out of a tent full of cobwebs.

5. Football is in his blood
We knew he was a mad Manchester United fan and he clearly relishes his role at Winton Yanited, where he played as a goalie for the club as a kid and volunteered as a referee, before returning to coach the team. But it’s clear that his mind is never too far from the ‘beautiful game’. When campmates were given photos from home, his showed him at Soccer Aid alongside his family – an event he described as ‘a dream come true’. And he’s already been filmed talking tactics in camp, testing Kelly Brook on the off-side rules – something she failed to grasp.
With his family, friends and team watching closely and Yanited urging Ginge to ‘bring the crown home for Salford’, the chances of him doing so are looking pretty strong.
