Cowboys Announce Dak Prescott News During Week 12 Disaster vs. Eagles

It’s been an up-and-down season for the Dallas Cowboys in 2025. Under the new head coach, Brian Schottenheimer, the Cowboys have gotten off to a 4-5-1 start, which is surprisingly good enough for second place in the NFC East.

While the defense has struggled as one of the worst units in the NFL this season, the offense has been inconsistent, with quarterback Dak Prescott looking like one of the best signal-callers in the league at times and an afterthought at others. However, despite the offensive inconsistency from Dallas, Prescott set a franchise record against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 12.

Dak Prescott Breaks Franchise Record for Passing Yards

While the Cowboys’ Week 12 NFC East matchup against the Eagles is not going their way as Dallas sits in a 21-7 hole, Prescott did break a franchise record set by Tony Romo in 2016. When Romo retired in 2016, he had completed 65.3% of his passes for 34,183 yards and 248 touchdowns over the course of his 13-year career, both franchise records.

Coming into Week 12, Prescott had completed 67.1% of his passes for 34,024 yards. Prescott would pass Romo to become Dallas’ franchise passing yards leader in the third quarter of the Week 12 matchup against Philadelphia. With four minutes remaining in the third quarter, Prescott has completed 16 of 23 passes for 203 yards.

Prescott still has a bit to go before he passes Romo for the Cowboys franchise record for career passing touchdowns, with Romo at 248 and Prescott at 234. While he’s thrown one against Philadelphia in Week 12, he would need 13 more touchdowns with one quarter and six more games remaining in the season.

There’s definitely a chance, as the Cowboys have the second-ranked offense in the NFL according to PFSN’s Offense Impact metric with an impact score of 87.9. Prescott himself has performed well in PFSN’s QB Impact metric, ranking as the sixth-overall quarterback in the NFL with an impact score of 83.9.

The offense has come to life this season with offseason additions like running back Javonte Williams and wide receiver George Pickens, who have formed a dominating one-two punch with fellow wide receiver Ceedee Lamb for Prescott in the passing game.

Unfortunately for the Cowboys, their defense has been a sore spot. They rank as the second-worst unit in PFSN’s Defense Impact metric, with an impact score of just 62.7, which is only better than the Cincinnati Bengals. While the Cowboys would like to string together some wins to push for a playoff berth, their defensive struggles make that difficult to achieve.
