Stafford and Kelly met at the University of Georgia, where both were students in the mid-2000s. Stafford was turning into a cornerstone player for the Bulldogs, becoming the first true freshman quarterback to start for the program in nearly a decade. Kelly, a nursing student and cheerleader for the team, crossed paths with him during their time at the university.
They married in 2015, and their wedding, held in Texas, had a strict no-cell phone policy and personalized details for guests, including custom hats and a Nike shoe station. In the years since, Kelly has revisited the day on her podcast and social media, talking about the life they have built together. In April this year, the Staffords celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary, with Kelly sharing thoughts about the importance of growing together over time.

Before they married, Kelly completed her nursing degree and became a registered nurse in 2014.
The Staffords welcomed their first children, identical twins Sawyer and Chandler, in March 2017. Their third daughter, Hunter, came the following year, and their youngest, Tyler, was born in 2020. Kelly often documents family life, and their daughters are frequently seen supporting their father at Rams games.

They are part of the investor group behind Angel City FC of the National Women’s Soccer League.
