Rockstar has a new job opening that could make Grand Theft Auto fans excited – a specific type of Grand Theft Auto fan.
This was found by Detective Seeds and we corroborated it in Rockstar’s Career Openings website.
Rockstar’s website says this:
Associate Director of Creator Management
Rockstar New York is seeking an Associate Director of Creator Management to coordinate and lead Creator campaigns.
We are looking for a creative strategist who is knowledgeable about Creator platforms and tools, social media, and Rockstar titles.
The job description goes on to say that this person will serve as the point of contact for Creators, and that they will craft public-facing messaging.
What Is This Job Opening For?
Fans have been complaining for some time now that Rockstar has not been working on any marketing for Grand Theft Auto 6. The conventional wisdom has been that Rockstar has been saving their marketing budget.
Of course, we have seen two trailers for the game already. But Rockstar is operating on the research that it makes most sense to push marketing for their games two weeks before it comes out.
This is because if they do marketing too early, fans will forget about said marketing. But that isn’t the situation that Rockstar and Grand Theft Auto 6 is facing now.
Touching Base With Grand Theft Auto Creators
Rockstar is facing some serious problems with online sentiment. Of course, there is the backlash to the recent layoffs.
But it’s more likely that the biggest concern is the second delay that will now have us waiting another year. It’s led to FUD that the game will get delayed again.
Regardless of how you feel about the delay, Rockstar now has a fandom that needs to stay engaged. To some extent, they can accomplish that with other games, but it won’t be enough.
What Rockstar Could Do With Their Community
Rockstar’s Creator contact person could do a lot to alleviate the studio’s PR problems. As the public face, they could be the one hyping the game up until it’s out.
Since they will know what is going on with the game behind the scenes, they can address fan’s questions and worries. Even in a limited capacity, someone who can give answers can reassure the community.
And Rockstar will want to direct the conversation around Grand Theft Auto 6 for another reason. They don’t need fans (or not-fans pretending to be fans) spreading fake news about the game.
For that reason, this opening will be very important for Rockstar. If you are eligible, you may want to consider if this might be the job for you.
