Ruth Langsford seemed to deliver a subtle dig at former husband Eamonn Holmes during Monday’s Loose Women.

On the latest show, the panel featuring 65 year old Ruth alongside Myleene Klass, Brenda Edwards and Sue Cleaver explored the question of ‘how involved are you in your partner’s health?’.

This followed David Cameron’s revelation that he had fought prostate cancer, with the 59 year old ex-Prime Minister crediting his wife Samantha for encouraging him to get tested.

During discussion of the former PM’s health disclosure, 47 year old Myleene observed: “It is a known fact that men live longer when they’re married because they have wives, and women live longer when they aren’t married shall we say… you do the maths!”, reports the Express.

Ruth playfully replied: “Good to know!” whilst chuckling with the audience and her co-presenters about potentially enjoying greater longevity now she’s single.

The former This Morning duo, Ruth and 65 year old Eamonn, stunned the entertainment industry last year by announcing their split and impending divorce.

Eamonn has since vacated the luxurious property he once shared with Ruth, having begun a new relationship with 44 year old relationship counsellor Katie Alexander.

This follows Ruth’s recent dismissal of viral online speculation suggesting she had reconnected with a childhood romance.

As she led a discussion on the topic of ‘hard launching’ relationships, alongside co-presenters GK Barry, Denise Welch and Jane Moore, Ruth pointed out a large image displayed on a screen behind her.

The image showed a woman, seemingly in a park, standing next to a man. The caption above it read: “The full story of heartbreak, closure and a love that came full circle.”

Addressing the panel about the image, a puzzled Ruth said: “Apparently I have a new man. According to this article, that’s all over Facebook and I’ve had friends ringing me up.

“Apparently I met this man when we were childhood sweethearts when I grew up in Belfast, which I didn’t, and now it’s come full circle after all these years and we are back together. Terrible, isn’t it?”.

Dismissing the rumours of a ‘mystery man’, Ruth clarified that the photograph was artificially generated through AI and she is indeed still single.

Loose Women airs on weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV and ITV X.
