Rumor: Shea Lacey included in MUFC matchday squad vs. Everton

Manchester United youngster Shea Lacey has reportedly been included in the matchday squad against Everton on Monday, with MUFC Academy posting the scoop on Twitter on the morning of the match.

Lacey, 18, was added to first-team training by manager Ruben Amorim last week alongside teammate Chido Obi. He had been recovering from injury for some time, but is regarded as one of the top prospects at Carrington who could make his debut soon enough.

Lacey operates as an attacking midfielder/winger, and could earn a valuable role for the Reds with Bryan Mbeumo and Amad set to depart for the African Cup of Nations in December. Amorim will be shorthanded at the forward position and without much spending room for a January reinforcement.

Simon Stone of the BBC reported on Lacey and Obi’s involvement in training this week, and added that Amorim has been happy with their progression.

”I’m really happy with him [Lacey]. He struggled a little bit with injuries but they did a very good job balancing his body and you can sense he can manage more load during training,” Amorim said. “He has a lot of talent but when they come here they can sense the speed is completely different, so they need to spend more time with us to be prepared because our training is hard. In Premier League games the pressure is harder, so they need to be ready.

United kick off against Everton this evening on their return from the international break.
