Matheus Cunha not in Man United squad after missing Christmas lights switch-on

Matheus Cunha has been ruled out of Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Everton at Old Trafford due to a minor knock picked up in training on Saturday.

The Brazil forward is not in the squad due to the injury, which is not believed to be serious, and which was accidentally revealed over the weekend after Cunha missed a Christmas lights switch-on in Altrincham.

“You need to be prepared for anything,” Ruben Amorim told Sky Sports. “You cannot find a team in the Premier League without injuries. We miss these players, Ben and Matheus changed a lot of things for us.”

Ruben Amorim defends decision to offload Rasmus Hojlund after Benjamin Sesko injury

Ruben Amorim defended his decision to let Rasmus Hojlund leave Manchester United even as Benjamin Sesko’s knee injury leaves him short of specialist strikers.

Summer signing Sesko will be out for around three weeks and the £73m signing will miss United’s game against Everton on Monday.

United allowed Hojlund, a £64m buy in 2023, to go to Napoli on loan with a view to a £38m permanent deal at the end of the transfer window and the Dane has scored four goals for the Serie A champions.
