Vancouver forecast calls for freezing temperatures this weekend | News

It was a chilly morning in Metro Vancouver, and it’s about to get a lot colder with freezing temperatures expected in the seven-day weather forecast from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).

There’s even some snow in the forecast for parts of B.C.

A conversation Daily Hive had with ECCC last week suggested that starting Tuesday, temperatures could begin to drop in Vancouver due to cold air moving in from northern parts of the continent.

The Arctic air coming is expected to move the region into “winter mode,” at least temporarily.

“We are going to see a pattern shift starting next week,” ECCC Meteorologist Ken Dosanjh told Daily Hive last week, adding that it’s generally been warmer than usual the past couple of months. That includes November, as temperatures have been a bit above seasonal.

That’s apparently going to change, as the ECCC forecast shows that this coming weekend could be a freezing one.

Normal temperatures for this time of year are around a high of 8°C and a low of 2°C.

On Friday, the Metro Vancouver forecast calls for overnight lows to be a chilly 2°C.

Then, for this coming Saturday, ECCC predicts overnight lows will dip below freezing, with a low of -1°C expected. The forecast doesn’t call for any precipitation on Saturday, but there’s a lot of rain in the forecast surrounding it. Rain is expected six out of seven days this week, according to ECCC.

For now, there’s no sign of snow in the Metro Vancouver forecast.

However, other areas of B.C. could see snow and even colder temperatures. Squamish, for example, has a temperature of -1°C forecast for Friday and an even colder -2°C forecast for Saturday overnight.

The Province has also issued an advisory to residents to begin preparing for winter weather, including putting together emergency kits and making sure you have supplies to last you during storms and potentially extreme winter weather.
