David Beckham once showed his class by introducing himself to kitchen staff at one of Gordon Ramsay’s dinner parties. Beckham enjoyed an illustrious career in English football, winning numerous trophies with Manchester United, including the Treble in 1999.
He followed that with stints at Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain before hanging up his boots in his late 30s. Few sportspeople have achieved the level of fame and wealth that the former England captain has managed, given his various off-the-pitch ventures. Even fewer are generally thought to be as down-to-earth and gentlemanly.
Beckham, 50, was knighted earlier this month, having been recognised for his contributions to sport and charity. After the ceremony at Windsor Castle, where he was knighted by King Charles III, Beckham was spotted leaving his close friend Ramsay’s Michelin-starred restaurant in Chelsea.
The football icon first met Ramsay in 2006, and their friendship grew stronger after they both moved to Los Angeles with their respective wives and children. According to Tash Pericic, a former assistant manager to the superstar chef at his Michelin-starred Maze Grill in London, Beckham was a frequent diner there.
Ms Pericic also recalled a time when she was assisting in catering for a private Christmas dinner at Ramsay’s London home, where another encounter with Beckham left a lasting impression.

She explained in an interview with Insider that Ramsay, aside from getting irate about some chairs – “What the f*** do you call these chairs!? They’re so terrible I wouldn’t throw them on a f****** bonfire! – was mainly amicable.
She added: “Gordon turned to us and said, ‘Relax, you aren’t at work, enjoy, have a glass of champagne,’ so we had a Christmas Eve toast with Gordon.”
But Beckham’s kindness apparently stood out even more. She described how the ex-Manchester United star, accompanied by his wife, Victoria, was the only guest to introduce himself to the kitchen staff.
“A small gesture, but it says a lot,” she explained. Her story highlighted his thoughtfulness towards staff, who are often under immense pressure in the hospitality industry, despite his own fame and success.
